Titty Tuesday: Breastfeeding your adopted newborn

If you were told you could breastfeed the sweet adopted newborn you were given to love as your own, would you? Danielle Edwards of Pittsburgh, PA did just that. She breast fed both of her adopted babies.

Danielle and her husband, Jonathan, were told that she could not biologically have her own children, and while that news was a blown on its own, she was more upset knowing she would be missing out on breastfeeding her baby.  
"Breastfeeding was always something I imagined myself doing," she says. "It was just part of my vision of myself."

  1. Wow, this is seriously amazing! This kind of passion for breastfeeding is really inspirational! I had a hard time with breast feeding but it was something I felt was important for my baby, and I did it for as long as I could stand.

    1. Breastfeeding is no joke! It is easy for some, harder for others…and each baby is different too! I could only breast feed my daughter for 6 months and then I dried up. So far I have made it to 5 months with my son, but he no longer latched after he hit 4 months. He finds the bottle to be quicker. :(

  2. This is absolutely wonderful! I had no idea it would even be possible! I'm having my 2nd baby very very soon and I'm so excited to breastfeed again :)

    1. I know! I never really even gave it a thought that one COULD breast feed their adopted baby. I read Danielle's story and knew I just had to share it. It's such a heartwarming and amazing journey! Congrats on your new baby!!

  3. What an inspirational story. Shared with "back to breast" Facebook group. I am lucky that I have been able overcome small issues to breastfeed my little ones.
